Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026. By using Blinking Chorus (the "Service"), you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

Your content

You're responsible for what you post. By posting, you grant Blinking Chorus a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display your text on the Service. Since all posts are anonymous, we can't attribute them to you — but you can delete them within 24 hours using the delete token you receive at the time of posting.

Acceptable use

You agree not to post anything that violates our Community Guidelines or Moderation Policy. We reserve the right to remove any content at our discretion, though we aim to do so only for policy violations. Repeated violations may result in rate limiting or access restrictions.

Age restrictions

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have permission from a parent or guardian. The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Data protection and privacy

Blinking Chorus is designed with anonymity at its core. We do not collect or store personal data: no names, no email addresses (unless you contact us), no device identifiers, no persistent cookies. The only data we store is the content you choose to post and an anonymous session token used to manage your posting window.

You can delete any blink you've posted within 24 hours using the deletion token provided at the time of posting. Deleting a blink permanently removes it from the Service. Because posts are anonymous and not linked to any identity, we cannot retrieve or delete posts on your behalf without the deletion token.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the GDPR regarding your personal data. Since we do not collect personal data that can identify you, most of these rights apply minimally. For data protection inquiries, contact [email protected].

Copyright and DMCA

You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you represent that you have the right to share the content and that it does not infringe on anyone else's copyright or intellectual property rights. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, please email [email protected] with a description of the copyrighted work and the URL of the allegedly infringing content. We will review and respond to valid notices promptly.

Medical and professional disclaimer

Blinking Chorus is a platform for sharing small daily moments. It is not a medical service, therapy platform, or crisis intervention tool. No content on the Service should be taken as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are experiencing a crisis or having thoughts of self-harm, please contact a qualified professional or crisis service in your area.

No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. The Service is a small independent project, not a commercial product, and may have periods of downtime or limited availability.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Blinking Chorus (the project and its maintainers) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, emotional distress, or any other damages — arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. This limitation applies regardless of legal theory, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Third-party services

The Service uses third-party APIs for moderation (OpenAI). By posting content, you acknowledge that your text may be processed by these third-party services solely for the purpose of enforcing our Moderation Policy. No personal data is shared with third parties.

Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of the United States. If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

Apple App Store compliance

If you access the Service through the Blinking Notes iOS application distributed via Apple's App Store, the following additional terms apply:

Google Play compliance

If you access the Service through the Blinking Notes Android application distributed via Google Play, you agree that Google is not responsible for providing maintenance or support for the Service. Any complaints regarding the Service should be directed to Blinking Chorus, not Google.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree with the changes, stop using the Service.
